Seasonal Wedding Flowers for Fall and Winter

Fall wedding bouquet

Fall and winter are great times of the year in Colorado for wedding flower choices!

There are many options with warm oranges, bright yellows, natural browns, and vivid burgundies for the fall wedding bride. Soft white flowers, classic ivory, and rich red flowers are popular during the winter season. However, if neutrals are not your style, several other color alternatives are available like gorgeous purples, intense plums, brilliant blues, and sultry reds.

As  the months of November and December arrive, anemones and amaryllis become popular, making simple statements all their own. Calla lilies are a strong favorite, as well, and are available in shades of purple, burgundy, classic white, and ivory. Additionally, flame callas offer a stunning color of cinnamon and yellow tones.

Bulb flowers such as tulips, ranunculus, iris, and freesia are worth a look in both seasons.  Hyacinths are another bulb flower with a very pleasing fragrance. If you are looking for unique wedding flowers with a less traditional form yet striking essence, try seeking out tropical flowers such as ginger, heliconia, and anthirium. Orchids also provide an elegant, island flair and are available in many vibrant colors and varieties.

In addition to flowers, there are several different selections for accents that can be added to bridal party bouquets, reception arrangements, and more. Berried branches such as winterberries, pepper berries, China berries, and snow berries can spruce up any winter design. Also, evergreen, holly, and cedar are quite popular for reception centerpieces. Woodsy materials such as curly willow branches, fall leaves, acorns, decorative pods, and pinecones add interest and texture to autumn bouquets. For a luxurious feel, magnolia leaves offer a warm, velvety balance to the composition.

Pictures of your ideas from websites and magazines can aid in designating the right flower style for the season you are getting married. Images also help assist your floral designer or wedding consultant with choosing colors and types of flowers you would like at your ceremony. He or she should be knowledgeable of what is available during each season. However, flowers are products of nature and can be subject to weather conditions.

No matter what season of the year you are celebrating your marriage, there are sure to be charming blooms that will reflect your personality and style.
